Rose Marie Eilert (Deaver) was born in Fairbury, NE on September 28, 1936, the daughter of Nathan & Anna (Hergott) Deaver. She died Friday, November 18, 2016 at the Mitchell County Hospital in Beloit, Kansas at the age of 80 years, 1 month, and 21 days.
Rose had 2 brothers and 2 sisters. When she was a small child she and her family lived in Fairbury, NE. In May 1945 her family moved to Clyde, KS. Nathan Deaver and family owned and operated a creamery in Clyde, KS called Deaver Produce from 1945 to 1958. They bought eggs and chickens from the local farmers and shipped them via truck to Fairbury, Nebraska. They also bought cream and every night they shipped it via Rock Island Railroad to Omaha, Nebraska. Rose and her siblings all worked in the produce.
Rose graduated from high school in 1954. After high school she worked for one year at the Elks State Bank in Clyde and in the fall of 1955 attended RN school at Marymount College in Salina, KS. After graduating from college in 1958 she worked nights at the St. Joseph Hospital in Concordia.
On October 22, 1960 she married Edwin Joseph Eilert. Rose continued to work as a nurse after she was married. Rose and Ed lost three sons at birth, Benjamin Joseph 8-9-1961, Charles Gerard, July 2, 1962 and Nicholas Jude, February 14, 1964. In October 1964 they adopted Leo Joseph Eilert, born 9-24-1964. Shortly after adopting Leo, she found out she was expecting again and on July 19, 1965 Samuel Hugh Eilert was born. In January, 1968 Ed and Rose adopted one more child, Angela Catherine, born December 23, 1967. Rose quit nursing to raise her family. Rose and Ed were also foster parents for a short time while raising their own children. For the better part of their marriage and to raise their family, Rose and Ed lived north of Beloit and enjoyed attending their children's school activities. Leo, Sam and Angela all graduated from St. John's High School.
Once the children were older and all in school she resumed her career as a RN at Hilltop Lodge where she worked 30+ years until she retired in 2011.
Rose was a devout Catholic and anyone who knew her knew that you would find her attending regular mass both during the week and on the weekends.
On February 21, 1998 she lost her loving husband in a tragic farming accident. She was also preceded in death by her parents; and her brother Leo.
She is survived by her sons, Leo and his wife Leanne and their two daughters, Lyddia, and Maggie, and Sam and his wife Susan and their children, Steven and Makenna; her daughter, Angela and her husband Jay Hillman and their two sons, Jeremy and Jarred; her brother, Leroy Deaver of Clay Center; two sisters, Ruth Girard and husband Don of Pratt and Mary Girard of Clyde; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be at 10 AM Tuesday, November 22 at the St. John’s Catholic Church in Beloit. A parish rosary service will be at 6 PM Monday, November 17 at the Church, & visitation will be from 9 AM to 4 PM Monday at the McDonald Funeral Home. Memorials may be given to St. John’s Schools or Legion of Mary/Ladies Guild.
